I love Le Sportsac purses. Ever since around…2000 (when I got my first one) I’ve been in love. First of all, they’re nylon. If they get dirty you can totally wash them off. Secondly, they’re graphic but they go with everything. It’s wierd. Thirdly, they’re inexpensive. You can get a kick ass purse for like, $60 bucks! My favorite shape is the “Deluxe Everyday Bag” and it can transform from a shoulder bag to an accross-the-body bag in one fell swoop. It also has a zipper to expand so that you can make it bigger. It’s got tons of pockets and compartments yet still manages to have tons of room. It’s brilliant.

Over the past few years, they’ve been getting lots of celebrities and designers to do limited edition bags (all of their fabic is actually limited edition – if you don’t like the fabric on the website – wait a few weeks and they’ll have different fabric!). Most of the bags are slightly more expensive but they’re usually cool and worth the extra expense. However, the latest designer to work for them is Stella McCartney. The bags are very chic and since they’re nylon they work for her (she’s avidly Peta).

Check out this interesting company that is building doghouses. I can’t tell if it’s WIERD to see dogs caged into my side tables, or if it’s absolutly BRILLIANT!? Your thoughts?

Max Beckmann

One of my favorite painters is the much underappreciated, Max Beckmann (1884-1950. He is part of the Expressionist movement and his paintings are very passionate; very emotional. I love the rawness of them. Here are a few of my favorite peices.

Love ‘em or Hate ‘em? I used to think that they were the height of tacky. However, lately I’ve seen them pop up in loads of fancy design magazines and blogs as chic. Personally, I’m now on the bandwagon. I think in the right room, with the right accessories…they can look really cool. Your thought?

I especially love the combonation of the zebra rug with the green walls in this photo. I want to try and incorporate these colors into a scrabook layout.

What inspires me?

Everything! The world around me! Trash on the sidewalk! My pugs poop! Okay, maybe not poop. But what I’m trying to impress upon you is that you can find inspiration anywhere, everywhere and nowhere. It is something falls out of the ether and strikes us.

And inspiration is not isolated to what smug people think art is. Life can be art. The words we choose when we speek, expressions we choose to make in photos, how we decorate our homes, our desks at work, the clothes we decide to wear in the morning, as well as crafts we choose to create. Life is art.
